A warm meal and a place to rest for IDF soldiers, minutes from the northern border.

At Beit Mashiv Haruach, IDF soldiers serving on the Israel–Lebanon border come to our house day and night for a home-cooked meal, a strong coffee, fresh supplies, and a few quiet hours before heading back out. Your gift keeps the door open.

“Mashiv Haruach” means the One who returns the wind, and the spirit.

We opened the day after, on October 8, 2023, because soldiers rushing north needed more than equipment. They needed a hot meal, a familiar face, and somewhere that felt like home.

What began as a few volunteers with pots and folding tables has become Beit Mashiv Haruach (בית משיב הרוח): a house in Northern Israel where IDF soldiers eat, resupply, rest, and breathe. Now we're expanding it: new sleeping areas, recovery rooms, and future wellness and therapy spaces.

Before you give

Everything about where your gift goes and what you'll see on the payment page. Anything else? Write to us and a volunteer will answer personally.

Give a tax-deductible gift through our U.S. sponsor, American Friends of Keter Torah Inc. (EIN 81-3211840), by card, PayPal, donor-advised fund, Zelle or check. Every gift buys meals, supplies and rest for soldiers at the house. You can also send supplies or volunteer: email us first and we’ll tell you what is needed this week.
Straight into the house: groceries and cooking gas, supplies on the shelves, and the renovation of new rest and recovery rooms. We are volunteer-run, so after processing fees, every dollar reaches the house.
Mashiv Haruach is an Israeli nonprofit. To make U.S. gifts tax-deductible, donations are received by American Friends of Keter Torah Inc., a registered 501(c)(3) in New York (EIN 81-3211840). They issue your tax receipt and forward the funds to the house. Seeing their name on the payment page means you are in the right place.
That contact form belongs to our U.S. sponsor’s donation system. It records that your gift is for Mashiv Haruach and gives them what they need to issue your tax receipt. Card and PayPal donors skip it and go straight to checkout.

Choose the method on the donation page and follow the steps. The grantee or payee is Friends of Keter Torah Inc., EIN 81-3211840. On a donor fund’s site, search “Friends of Keter Torah” rather than just “Keter Torah”, which lists about ten similar names, and pick the one at 5002 16th Ave, Brooklyn, NY. In the note, dedication or memo field, write “In honor of Mashiv Haruach” so your gift is matched to us. Fidelity Charitable donors follow the same steps inside their Fidelity account.
Yes. We regularly receive equipment and food donations. Email us first so we can tell you what the shelves are missing this week.
Absolutely. Volunteers cook, serve, drive and build. Reach out and we’ll find you a shift. There’s always a pot that needs stirring.
